Beethoven Leonore Overture No. 3
Khachaturian Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia
Prokofiev Excerpts from Romeo and Juliet
Intertwining an intimate warmth and powerful love, ANGO presents the first concert of our 2020 season: From ANGO, with love. This concert begins with Beethoven’s Leonore Overture, the overture to Beethoven’s only opera. The piece is heart-wrenchingly powerful and is laced with juxtaposing themes of sorrow and hope, embodying the ideal prelude to a beautiful romantic night of music. Then, Khachaturian’s famous Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia takes the limelight with its bewitching melodies and monumental climax. To finish the night, we have Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet ballet, based on Shakespeare’s play of the same name. It tells a story of two star-crossed lovers who fall in love at first sight.
Enjoy a night of pure romance and hauntingly beautiful themes, brought to you by ANGO.
